Trails

You can hike for miles and miles through the River Valley region, encompassing major portions of the Ouachita National Forest and Ozark National Forest. Each of the three peaks feature hardy trails such as the Cedar Falls Trail and Seven Hollows Trail at Petit Jean State Park; the Cove Lake Trail System on Mount Magazine; and the Rim Trail atop Mount Nebo. Russellville hosts the popular Bona Dea Trails and wildlife sanctuary.

  • Located on the east side of Scenic 7 Byway, this trail is a great trek for day or overnights. Mountain bikes also welcome.

  • Winds along a rugged northwestern slope overlooking a portion of Shoal Creek known locally as the “Narrows”; offers three different trail routes of increasing length and difficulty.

  • Danville City Park, USFS Ouachita National Forest.

  • 34.3 miles for riding, hiking, ATV and mountain biking. Enjoy winding valleys and cross clear streams.

  • Scenic 7 Byway North, Dover. Horse, mountain bike and four wheelers. 28 miles, four major loops, multiple inner loops.

  • Part of this scenic forest extends into Logan County, making it one of only two counties in the state to include two national forests. Several recreation areas offer camping and fishing.

  • Almost 40 miles of this popular trail cut across Perry County and the Jessieville Ranger District.

  • State Hwy. 27 near Onyx, USFS Ouachita National Forest. Hiking and mountain biking.

  • Covering more than one million acres, the southernmost portion runs along the Arkansas River Valley south to the Ouachita Mountains.

  • Danville, USFS Ouachita National Forest.

  • Has over 20 miles of hiking trails raging from moderate to difficult.
